April Fool's Day

When I was in college, I was a real prankster. However, as the years have worn on, I have done less and less silly jokes. Lately, I've been getting lots of fun ideas from blogs and websites and so I had bookmarked a bunch of April Fools food ideas. I decided on Thursday that I was going to pack great April Fool's lunches. I bought all of the ingredients at the store, but then I got tired and fell asleep and didn't make them. Marissa offered to make cinnamon toast for her sisters for breakfast. Maddie was the only one that took her up on the offer and the toast was made with cinnamon and salt instead of sugar! As Maddie was leaving for school, I mentioned that I was going to make an April Fool's lunch, but didn't get it done. She begged me to make it and bring it to school. So after the kids were all gone I prepared lunch for Morgan, Maddie, Reagan and Nancy. I didn't think the high school kids would be too humored by having their Mom drop off an April Fool's lunch.
I bought canned fruit in a pop top can. I opened the bottom with a can opener and then emptied out the fruit and refilled the can with kisses, peanut butter cups, rolos, and hard candies. I carefully opened up the cheetos and removed the cheetos and filled the bag with baby carrots and then hot glued it shut. I used a knife sharpener to poke a hole in the apple and inserted a gummy worm. For the sandwich, I hot glued the top of the zip loc shut. The juice was normal, but I figured they would be suspect that something must be wrong. Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of the kids eating their lunches, because I didn't see any of them eat lunch.

When the girls got home, they were really excited about their lunches. Morgan thought it was really strange that I just brought her a lunch, and it didn't take her long to figure out that her special lunch was an April Fool's lunch. All of the girls said their favorite thing was the fruit cans filled with candy. I was really glad I did it, because it was a real hit!!
