Football
Rob had a great time playing football this year. He is really small, but really fast and aggressive.
These pictures were taken during the freshman game against Valley Center. Our school won by a long ways.
Rob is #23.

Rob's Varsity Football Debut
At Rob's high school, they let a few freshmen dress with the varsity team each game. Rob got picked for Friday's Valley Center game. He was super excited because it was an away game so he got to eat dinner & ride the bus to the game with the older boys. He also knew there was a possibility for a blowout and that would mean an outside chance that he would actually get to play. Before Friday, no Freshmen had played this year.
I packed my camera to take to the game and then left it sitting at home. I was bummed I had forgotten it and even more bummed I'd forgotten it as the game unfolded. However, I discovered another benefit of facebook. I was able to copy some pictures that other kids had posted on facebook to use for my blog post.
Rob is #23. He is so much shorter then everyone else that he really sticks out!!
Rob is #23. He is so much shorter then everyone else that he really sticks out!! Our team scored about 2 touchdowns a quarter. Towards the end of the 1st half the student section started chanting, "Put Rob in! Put Rob in!". It was pretty funny. The people around us were all cracking up and we could see that the football players on the sidelines were making comments to Rob as well. A little bit into the 4th quarter the coach took out the starters and started letting the back up players play.
I took Reagan to the bathroom and as I was walking back I noticed that the score was now 60-0. The students were chanting "Twenty-three, Twenty-three". About this time I noticed that the coach was talking to Rob and it looked like they were actually going to put him in. They put him in for the kickoff and the crowd went crazy!!!
Rob was on the far opposite side of the field so by the time he got to the guy with the ball, the tackle had all ready been made. He slid down right by where the guy was. Rob is a really fast runner so he didn't look out of place during the kick off other than his size. Once he got back to the sideline, some of the players hoisted him in the air.

At the end of the game one of the managers who is a friend of Rob's told him to get in the front of the players as they walked past the other team because the student's wanted him to jump into the crowd. Rob led the players and then came running over to the students and then the next thing I notice is that the students have him up in the air. He had done the "Lambeau leap" into the crowd.
This is a picture of Rob being lifted in the air by the students. Once all the players got over to the students, they did their traditional "Oh, yea" cheer that they do whenever they win. After that, some of the players lifted Rob in the air one more time.

I was walking to the car by myself and saw a lady I know because she is really good friends with my really good friend. We were talking about the game and about how her son is Mr. Spirit. She then said, "Isn't that so neat about #23". I told her that was my son and she really thought that was great! She told me how neat she thought it was and that now she thinks it is even neater since she knows his family.
Mark was talking to one of the senior boys today at church and he told Mark that yesterday when they reviewed film that every time they showed Rob the whole team would start cheering and chanting "Robby, Robby".
Marissa wasn't at the game because she had gone shopping with 2 of her friends. Alot of her friends were at the game and they were telling her that if it wasn't for Robby the game would have been really boring, but it was actually one of the funnest games ever!!

Ward Campout
The three younger girls and I went to the ward campout. Mark and the two older ones went to the highs school football game. I would have much rather been at the football game, but I was being a good Mom and doing what the girls would want to do.
Morgan is much more proficient at setting up the tent then I am. She was giving us all instructions of what we should do.
Morgan is happy to show off the set-up tent.

Grand Slam Ball
Wilson Betemet hit his first ever grand slam and Rob got the ball. It was pretty exciting. Mutual had been cancelled due to bad weather so Mark and Marissa were home watching the game on tv. Right as Betemet hit the grand slam, Mark said that he thought "Wouldn't that be something if Rob could get this ball?" However, he knew it wasn't possible because he knew our seats were really high up and in a different part of the ballpark. Right after that, though, Mark saw Rob on tv running with the ball in his hand. As soon as I realized Rob had got the ball, I thought that I needed to call Mark. Right after that my phone rang and Mark was calling me. When I saw that it was Mark calling, I assumed that he must have just seen Rob on tv and I was right.
Rob doesn't smile big for too many pictures, but this was something worth smiling big about!
Rob admiring his ball.
Stats about Betemet on the Jumbotron.
There was a really nice usher who we had been talking to during the game. Sallie talked to him about getting the grand slam ball signed and he told us where to go. We went and stood outside the gate of where the players park their cars. The usher went and talked to the security guard at the lot and asked him to talk to Betemet when he came out and here he is talking to him.
Wilson Betemet signing the grand slam ball for Rob. Priceless!!!

Royals Game
It had been raining all day and it was really raining when it was time to go to the game. We didn't go as early as normal because we knew there wouldn't be batting practice. When we got there, the big question was if there would even be a game. I left my camera in the car in the beginning because I didn't want to risk it getting wet. There weren't hardly any people at the game because it was rainy and on a Wednesday night. I would guess there may have been less than 5,000 people in the stands. We had tickets on the upper deck behind home plate. However, when we arrived it was rainy and so we sat in seats that were covered and we didn't ever go to our regular seats.
Cooper, Morgan and Maddie standing to watch the game. This game was so much fun for the kids because since the ball park was so empty they could run around to their heart's content.
Maddie gets a foul ball hit by one of the A's players. Rob has gotten many, many balls from batting practice at MLB games, but he had never gotten a game ball until tonight and then Madddie ended up getting another game ball.

When we lived in Kansas City, we used to take everyone who came to visit us to this museum. However, it has been more than 10 years since we lived there and I hadn't been since. I think its a great museum. It tells about how this family found this sunken boat and the recovery process of all of the items. My kids thought it was boring because they have an aversion to any type of museum unless it is a children's museum or science museum which is filled with interactive exhibits.

I think the kids favorite part of the museum was playing in the giftr shop afterwards.

Rob, Morgan, Maddie & Reagan all took the day off school so we could go have some fun in Kansas City. We started off the day by going to T-Rex for lunch. Rob drove to Kansas City to help him get some hours in. He drove the whole way and did really well.
T-Rex is in the Legends shopping center. The atmosphere is really great.
Sitting at the table, getting ready to order.
I told Morgan that if she ate all of her food she could have dessert. She picked out the thing on the menu that looked the smallest because she wanted to have dessert. She ordered this paint a dino rice krispie treat.
Morgan painting her dino. She was the only one who got dessert because the others didn't eat all of their regular food.
The finished rice krispie dino!
Maddie used her own money to get a build a dino. Here she is giving him a bath.

It was a rainy day so Reagan was having fun with the umbrella and she is sharing it with Allie.
The kids were all having fun running around outside after we came out of the restaurant.
