Girls Camp

This was Maddie's first year to go to girls camp and Morgan's third.

Morgan went to girls camp a day late because she had cheer camp.  I picked Morgan up from the high school when she returned from cheer camp and we went directly to Oklahoma for Girls Camp.
Morgan is ready - all decked out in flamingo attire!

Morgan made this shirt for girls camp!

Level 1 preparing for chant.  (I love Maddie's outfit.  It is very fitting for our family.  Wichita State shirt - our hometown basketball team; KU shorts - our favorite basketball team; flamingo hat - just like her sister).

Sister Johnson and Sister Nichols doing the leaders chant (They were the faithful flamingo cafe).  They used Maddie since she had the flamingo hat on!

Morgan's 14th birthday.  She was lucky enough to celebrate it at Girls Camp.

Taiwanese Dinner

The Sunday before we went to church thinking there was a possibility we may have a couple of extra people for dinner.  Because of that, I had cooked a little extra chicken.  At church, I found out that the Elders dinner appointment had cancelled so I invited them to dinner.  Sam Kidd's family had moved so Mark invited him over for dinner, too.  Our home teacher wanted to come to visit us so we invited him, too.  We went home thinking we would have 5 dinner guests and we immediately began making extra sides, etc., so we would have enough food for everyone.  As we were preparing dinner, the Israels stopped by so we invited them, too.  We ended up having 7 dinner guests and we did have enough food!  It was great fun!!  As we were eating dinner, Michelle started talking about teaching us to make Taiwanese food so we decided that everyone who was at dinner was also invited the following week.  The following week we also invited the sister missionaries and the Eldredges (who were supposed to be having all 5 missionaries for dinner).

Michelle, Gary and Sam came over at 5 to start the meal prep at our house.  (Michelle had all ready done alot of meal prep at her house)

Maddie's Volleyball

Maddie played volleyball in a summer league at the Y.  She liked it at the beginning, but was very tired of it by the end.  Her volleyball improved, especially after going to a camp at Andover Central  (which she loved!!) at the beginning of the summer.  This was the only game in which I actually took pictures!
 Waiting for the ball.

 A view of the game.

After the serve!

Morgan at EFY

Morgan went to EFY in Columbia, Missouri.
Brother Pali, Morgan, Aubrey, & Dara.  Brother Pali was Morgan's favorite speaker because he told the best stories!

In the background is a tunnel on the Missouri campus that reminded Morgan's company of the Salt Lake City temple.

After lunch they would meet at a company spot.   This tree was by their spot and Jacob decided to climb the small tree and he broke it!!

During the Preach my gospel activity Olivia was the missionary telling Morgan about the Plan of Salvation because her dog died and her Dad was murdered!!

The boys code word for gentleman alert was "squirrel".  So whenever there was a door to be opened, a chair to be scooted back or dishes to be thrown away one them would shout "squirrel".  One day Morgan and some of her company were walking on campus and saw an actual squirrel.  On the last day they finally told the girls what the code word meant!

Here's a clearer picture of the tunnel that looks liked the Salt Lake City Temple!

Morgan asked Jeremy aka "Grandpa" to take a picture.  He turned the camera at himself and asked how many he should take as he started taking pictures of himself!

Company picture taken by "Grandpa" before the cheer and skit competition.  Morgan's company made it to the finals with cheer/skit.  Morgan lost her voice because she was screaming in it!

Morgan with Trevor Johnson from Vocal Point.  She also got his autograph!

The first day Caitlin came up to Morgan asking for a picture because she's short.  Throughout EFY she kept asking for pictures so then Morgan finally got a picture for herself.

 Olivia, Jess, Morgan & Dara.

Dara, jEFY(Jeffrey) , Jess (photobombing), Morgan.  jEFY was Morgan's favorite counselor ever!!

Rob's Eagle Project

Rob did his Eagle Project on July 5 & 6 at the Great Plains Nature Center.  His project was to remove an invasive plant called bush Honeysuckle.  He had a great turnout and Rob did a great job of leading the project.  In the end Rob logged more than 150 service hours between all of the helpers.
Rob buy one of the plants that has been pulled out.  The roots weren't too deep so for most of the plants, shovels worked great!

An example of the bush Honeysuckle that hasn't been removed yet!

Here is a picture of the poison ivy.  Unfortunately, there was poison ivy everywhere!  Rob & Mark both got quite a bit of poison ivy, especially on their arms.  I wore shorts the first day and Mark wasn't too impressed with my choice of attire!  However, I didn't get in the plants much because my job was to be the photographer!  However, I did manage to get a tiny bit of poison ivy on the back of my legs.

A few of the plants that have been pulled with a good picture of their roots!

Maddie & Reagan's job was to sit by the entrance and check people in and out and tell them where to go.  (Morgan wasn't there because she was at EFY.)

Michelle, Rob & Gary working.  Gary is using a special tool that the nature center had.  The tool worked good on the plants that were especially large!

Michelle and Rob with the big plant that Gary just got through removing!

A picture of alot of people working.  Jacob is on the lower right.  He came both days with his family and worked the entire time!  He did such a great job!

Oliver packs one of the bushes down to the pile!

Mark Elzinga came both days for the entire time.  He got there the same time as me the first day and he beat me there the second day.  (I was on time both days!!)

I left right before the end of the second day because I had to get Maddie to her volleyball game.  There were lots of other people that helped that I didn't get pictures of.  I also took lots more pictures, but I just wanted to post a sampling of them!
