Rob did his Eagle Project on July 5 & 6 at the Great Plains Nature Center. His project was to remove an invasive plant called bush Honeysuckle. He had a great turnout and Rob did a great job of leading the project. In the end Rob logged more than 150 service hours between all of the helpers.
Rob buy one of the plants that has been pulled out. The roots weren't too deep so for most of the plants, shovels worked great!
An example of the bush Honeysuckle that hasn't been removed yet!
Here is a picture of the poison ivy. Unfortunately, there was poison ivy everywhere! Rob & Mark both got quite a bit of poison ivy, especially on their arms. I wore shorts the first day and Mark wasn't too impressed with my choice of attire! However, I didn't get in the plants much because my job was to be the photographer! However, I did manage to get a tiny bit of poison ivy on the back of my legs.
A few of the plants that have been pulled with a good picture of their roots!
Michelle, Rob & Gary working. Gary is using a special tool that the nature center had. The tool worked good on the plants that were especially large!

I left right before the end of the second day because I had to get Maddie to her volleyball game. There were lots of other people that helped that I didn't get pictures of. I also took lots more pictures, but I just wanted to post a sampling of them!
