Veteran's Day Assembly

I am so glad I live in the United States and I am so grateful for it.  I never felt more grateful then when I was in Italy and I couldn't wait to get back.  However, I'm often not as patriotic as I should be.  I definitely don't get too caught up in Veteran's Day.  However, this year I went to the Veteran's Day assembly at the middle school because Morgan was reading her essay.  I was really glad that I went because the whole assembly was really, really, good and it fueled my patriotism!
Morgan did an essay for extra credit in her social studies class.  The assigned topic was "Are You Proud of Your Country?"  When she was writing the essay, she told me that it would automatically be entered in a contest.  I asked her if she was interested in winning the contest and she said "No!".   I then told her to just write it as fast as she could and just get the right amount of words so she could get her extra credit.  In her essay, she told about going to Washington D.C. and New York over spring break and how that helped her to realize that she is proud of her country.  Well, her essay won the contest for 7th graders in her school so her prize was she got to read it at the Veteran's Day Assembly.  Her friend, Jessi, from church won the 6th grade contest so that was pretty fun!
The cheerleader's did a performance at the assembly, too!

This is "Freddy"!.  He is the man that Freddy's (one of our favorite hamburger places in town) is named after.  He accepted a gift of money from the school for Veteran's.
An English class did this Reader's Theatre for Veteran's Day.  It was good, but my picture is bad.  For some reason, I was having focusing issues!
