Rolling Hills Zoo in Salina

This summer I had big plans to take a bunch of day trips and today we finally went on our first. We drove up in, my friend, Lori's 15-passenger van and every seat was filled. Lori was watching a family of 5 boys so they all came along with Lori's 3 youngest boys and her daughter Megan and my 4 girls. Rob opted to stay home, but Marissa decided to come since Megan was coming. Boys are definitely more wild then girls and by the end of the day Marissa was even heard to say, "Mom, I'm sure glad I have sisters!" There are a lot of pictures in this post, but it is actually a very small sampling of the pictures I actually took!A picture I took of some of the kids in the back from the front passenger seat.
We stopped by a statue to take pictures and Reagan told us we needed to wait a minute because she needed to change into her picture shoes.
Some of the kids posing for a serious group picture, at least about as serious as it gets with a group of boys.
Now for the silly group picture!
A picture I just happened to like.
My girls just could not understand why they would have cockroaches in the zoo.The boys in the reptile house. I think we spent about a half hour here. The boys LOVED this place! Lori and I both agreed that it is about our least favorite place in the zoo, but we just talked and were entertained by just how much the boys were enjoying it!
Maddie, Marissa, and Megan waiting for us. Marissa could not understand how it could possibly take that long in the reptile house.
Everywhere we go, Reagan will do a cartwheel or two, while we are walking along. I just happened to have my camera ready to capture the moment!
A Bactrian camel with 2 humps. None of us could ever remember seeing a two humped camel before.
Morgan with her buddy Nathan. Morgan had so much fun pushing Nathan around the zoo and after awhile Morgan was the only one that Nathan wanted. They were cute together!
Megan and Marissa were a bit quicker to see the animals then the rest of us so they spent a lot of time going ahead and then sitting on a bench and chatting while they waited for everyone else.
Capturing a photo opportunity.
Marissa and Morgan blowing grass blades, a frequent outdoors activity for those 2.
An addax which is a critically endangered animal.
Spencer wasn't cooperating so some of the other boys were dragging him along on the pavement. It ripped a hole in his shirt and then he was really frustrated.
Morgan, Nathan & Reagan being groundhogs.

This zoo also has a really cool museum. However, I wasn't able to take any pictures there because my 50mm lens fell out of my bag and wouldn't focus. Bummer!!! It is now at the camera shop getting fixed.
