Maddie's Field Trip

For Maddie's field trip on Friday, we went to the Kansas Aviation Museum..  Maddie was not excited to go.  She did not think it sounded interesting at all.  My thoughts were that since Maddie had such low expectations, that it couldn't possibly be worse then what she was thinking it would be.
I had only been there one other time and I think it was more than 10 years ago.  I remembered it  as being old and not too exciting.  Definitely, not somewhere I would take out of town guests unless they were airplane enthusiasts.

Maddie looking at some of the airplanes that were on display.

Maddie flying a paper airplane she made off the balcony in the old air terminal area.

Maddie and Jessica making some paper airplane like things.  They did this during the open time.

I definitely thought the field trip was well done.  I could see that it would be extremely interesting if you were interested in airplanes.  However, I have about as much interest in airplanes as I do in art museums, not much!!  Maddie isn't any more interested in airplanes then I am.  However, in Wichita we have a whole bunch of airplane manufacturers as well as McConnell Air Force Base.  So even though we aren't interested in airplanes, there are lots and lots of people around here who are super interested!!  They broke the kids in groups and had them do a few fun activities.  The problem was when they broke them in groups, the groups were made within the individual classes.  Maddie's friends that she likes to be with aren't in her class.  She told everyone that it wasn't fun at all, but it really wasn't as bad as she described it!!
