Marissa at the MTC

We got a letter in the mail from Marissa yesterday.  (It probably actually came on Saturday, but we didn't bring the mail in on Saturday).  It sounded like she was doing good and she told us that she would be sending us an email today.
I decided that I am going to do some blog posts of Marissa on her mission on our family blog.  That way we will be able to see what we were all doing around the same time.
Today when Marissa emailed us a letter, she also emailed us 3 pictures from her companion's camera.

A picture of Marissa in front of the MTC taken on Sunday.

Marissa and her companion, Sister Weber (prounounced Webber) taken today.

It sounds like Marissa is doing great.  The Saturday Marissa was home, we had the Sister Missionaries from our ward over for dinner so that we could ask them some questions.  Our Sister Missionaries are awesome.  One of the things they told us is that we should write her every day when she is in the MTC because when they hand out letters if you don't get one it is kind of a bummer.  In her letter today, Marissa said that her district thinks she is a celebrity because of the obscene amount of letters she gets every day.  She said that she has gotten about 20 letters in 4 days.  Mark has written her every day.  I didn't write her the first day, but I've written her on all the other weekdays (the days they deliver Dear Elder letters).  Morgan wrote her twice one day which means she has also gotten quite a few letters from her friends and others.  We really appreciate how supportive everyone is of Marissa!!  Maddie has been handwriting her a little bit every day.  I took Maddie's first letter to the post office on Monday.  Rob sent Marissa a Dear Elder letter last night so she would have gotten his letter this evening.  Reagan is the only one from our family that hasn't written her so far, but she is definitely thinking about her.

And here is a short inspiring paragraph from her email:  So, in my crazy amounts of scripture studying this week I came across this gem.  It come for the Book of Mormon, Alma 26:12 "Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mightly miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever." This is so true!  Sometimes life is really hard ,sometimes being a missionary is hard, but it is through the Lord that we can do anything! Christ's atonement makes up for all of our shortcomings.  I love this gospel! I I love being a missionary! This is truly a unique expreince.
