We went to our first baseball game on the first day of the trip at Kauffman stadium to see the Royals play the A's. The baseball games were definitely what Rob was most excited for and he had gotten both Morgan and Maddie very excited as well. Marissa's opinion on the matter was that he had brainwashed them. We all had Royals shirts to wear from the basket we got at the elementary carnival in the spring. We also all got a free Royals baseball cap for being one of the first 20,000 fans there.

It was extremely hot and miserable as we waited outside the gates to get in. Rob thinks that MLB baseball games start when batting practice starts so we were there 1 1/2 hrs early to see the batting practice. Marissa spent batting practice sitting in the shade trying to get cool. Reagan spent batting practice riding the carousel, playing mini golf, etc., while I watched. The other 3 watched batting practice and Maddie even got a ball. She was really excited about that.

Rob's favorite Royal's player Yuni Betancourt hit a grand slam in the 2nd inning. Here is a picture of him rounding the bases.

Rob, just happy to be at a MLB game.

This picture is my favorite. Our seats were high but we could see great.

Maddie was truly happy to be at the ball game. She used her own money and bought a little wooden bat as a souvenir.

Marissa & Rob had made some Bingo games for the girls to play at the games. Morgan is helping Reagan play Bingo here. We ended up not really playing much Bingo. Morgan and Maddie were content to watch the games and Reagan spent lots of time at the games wandering around, playing in the play area, etc. The A's scored in the top of the 9th to take the lead. We really wanted the Royals to win, but Marissa and I had to admit that we wanted even more for the game to end in only 9 innings. The Royals ended up losing 5-6.
