Ice Skating

Our trip to the ice skating rink was triggered by Rob wanting to do his ice skating merit badge. Last year we went ice skating in Oklahoma with my friend, Brenda, and her family, but I had never been to the ice rink in Wichita. On the way to the rink, Reagan made the comment that this would be her first time to ice skate in Kansas!
My friend, Jolene, is an avid skater and agreed to help Rob with his merit badge. I love this picture of her demonstrating a move and you can see that she has the merit badge book in her hand. She worked with Rob for about a half hour and he was able to pass off all the skills. She said that some of the skills he had to do were advanced beginner skills and there is no way that most kids could pass these skills off in such a short time. She said that it was very evident that he is really athletic and coordinated. Rob enjoyed the private lesson from Jolene and then had a great time using some of his newfound skills, but mostly skating fast afterwards!!
I cut off Morgan's feet in this picture, but I like the facial expression. Morgan really enjoyed ice skating and she is all ready trying to schedule her next trip to the skating rink!
Marissa had fun for awhile, but then she didn't enjoy having hurting feet.
Maddie had a good time even though she fell and bumped her head once. She sat out for a few minutes, but then started skating pretty soon afterwards!
Reagan did great, too! She was skating all over the rink by herself. She also fell and got a small bump on her face both above and below her eye. It didn't take her long after her fall, though, to start skating again.
I love this picture of Rob skating with Reagan. On our way home from the rink, I asked Reagan if she liked skating better in Oklahoma or Kansas. She said that she liked Oklahoma better because they had "those little red things to hold on to" (They were like walkers to use on the ice) and the ice wasn't as slick. We explained to her that the ice is actually supposed to be slick, but she definitely did NOT agree!! Well, that wraps up my posts for this year. I wanted to get all of this year's posts posted before the new year arrives!!

  1. Fun pictures of the kids. I didn't recognize Morgan at first. She looks so grown up.
