This year it was Mark's turn to plan the family vacation so he planned a backpacking trip. The kids were all really excited to go on another backpacking trip and I was fine with it, too. It was weird going on the trip without Marissa, though, and we really missed her.
The night before we left Mark was packing all the backpacks and getting everything ready to go. I love in this picture how Kate is sleeping on the chair - a pretty normal sight for Kate!
Taking a quick break in Goodland, Kansas. It added a different dimension to breaks having Kate with us!
The first two nights we stayed in a Residence Inn in Greenwood Village, Colorado which is south of Denver. Our room had two levels so Rob used this as an opportunity to play catch with the girls between the two levels. The kids loved this motel!! (We had taken Kate to City Bark for the two nights while we were in Denver since we couldn't take her to the ball game and to church.)

Maddie's bed in the closet. The kids were fighting over who was sleeping where and so Maddie decided she would just sleep in the closet. The next day Reagan was complaining that it wasn't fair that Maddie gets to sleep in the closet both nights!! Wow, I couldn't believe they were actually fighting over sleeping in the closet!!!
